Why We Encourage Healthy Eating
Early childhood is the foundation of lifelong habits. When children learn why certain foods are good for them and others are best avoided, they grow up to make wiser decisions naturally — not forcefully.
At this age:
- Taste buds are developing rapidly.
- Food is exploration — texture, colour, and comfort.
- Children model what they see, not just what they’re told.
So instead of instructions, we believe in experience-based learning.
The Power of Pretend Play in Teaching
The Pretend Play Act
Our teachers performed a short and engaging act featuring:
- Healthy Foods who were energetic and cheerful
- Junk Foods who felt tired, dull, and slow
The children quickly noticed the difference!
They learned that:
- Fruits, vegetables, milk, nuts = Power foods
- Chips, candies, soft drinks = Sometimes foods (not for daily use)
What Children Did
- Sorted pictures of foods into Healthy and Not Healthy
- Tried natural sweet foods like fruits
- Learned a simple slogan:
“Eat good food, feel good!”
And the best part?
They started pointing out healthy items in their own tiffins!
Activity Highlights
- Children got to sort foods into “Healthy” and “Sometimes” categories.
- They enjoyed a tiny tasting tray of natural sweets like fruits instead of processed sugar.
- They danced to a fun song:
“Strong and smart, right from the start!” - Teachers discussed real-life situations — like tiffin time, birthday treats, grocery shopping — to make the learning practical.
What We Observed 💡
By the end of the session:
- Children confidently said: “We eat to grow strong!”
- They proudly identified nutritious items in their own tiffins.
- Some even reminded each other gently:
“No chips today — we want power muscles!”
This is exactly the kind of mindful awareness that shapes healthy, happy little humans.
